Ahhhh, summer. Where did you go? Even though the weather has been holding up pretty decently here in Toronto (us Candians CAN NOT resist talking about the weather), it’s quite clear that hot, glorious, sun burnt, mosquito biting, smokey campfire sweatshirts, sand in your sheets, flowery dress summer is gone. Sigh. I was flipping, and by flipping I mean clicking, through some photos and reminiscing when I thought, hey, maybe you peeps would like to reminisce with me. If you are more into the recipes type of post, then please ignore this photo collection and I promise the next post will be a delicious, easy to make recipe, but for you reminiscers, lets take a look at one MILLION pictures. No for real, I didn’t hesitate to post almost my entire photo collection. Eyes ready? Favourite summer memories here we go →
As always, summer involves a lot of swimming… Truth, I am not the biggest fan of swimming. I like it, but I prefer this floaty thing.
My summer vacation took me to a trip in Nova Scotia, with beautiful rocky beaches and no leaches. Hey it rhymed! Andrew and I were totally spoiled by getting to enjoy both fresh lake water and the salty ocean.
Captain Andrew taking his sister Ali and I on a seriously epic power boat ride. We went like 2 miles an hour, this was one speedy boat. Yes, that’s his captain face.
Danger, don’t eat the shellfish! (You didn’t have to tell me that).
We were near the little town of Hubbards, and went to the Hubbards Barn Farmers Market, which is for sure the most happening thing in town. Fresh flowers were everywhere.
and so were scrumptious breads…
There was even this dog with a flower on it’s nose that seemed very interested in my popsicle.
Next I went to Halifax and devoured a meal with my long lost high school roommate at Halifax’s newish vegan restaurant Envie and feasted on this epic sandwich. They called it fish something or other (can’t remember, eek!) but I just called it scrumptious.
I also had this insanely good chocolate cake. Seriously, if you are stopping by Envie anytime please ship me a cake.
There was fashionable swimming attire. Yes, this is my love. …. I don’t even know how to explain that.
Best of all, my parents surprised me with a new camera for my birthday! I real upgrade from my iPhone!
And I started to learn how to use it.
Audrey was curious about my new camera…
but when she realized I wasn’t going to play fetch with it, she quickly got bored.
Andrew loves posing for photos with me. Pretty much his favourite.
We harvested veggies from my parents garden. Summer tomatoes… swoon.
Home grown garlic! This stuff is so good, just roast it and spread it on toast. It’s also great for warding off vampires and elevator conversations.
I picked up some not so local produce too and dehydrated a pineapple. Probably one of the best things ever to dehydrate! It makes the MOST delicious candy like treat.
Andrew was the summer cocktail master, and I wasn’t complaining.
I even ate weeds. Ehem, let me rephrase, I ate daisies, which are edible, I had them in a salad. They taste sweet!
I admired a friends tea towel.
and some graffiti.
More summer gorgeousness. I mean really, can you ever have too many flowers?
I decided to arrange all my groceries on the floor. Vegan food is good for your heart!
I FINALLY got around to taking proper head shots of myself.
And by proper I mean in my bathroom, with kitchen tools, making this face.
Sweet sweet summer, I will miss you!
Autumn, here I come. Bright scarves and layers at the ready.
So, how did you spend your summer? I would love to hear your stories too!
