Each month, we'll all make one recipe, then head to the comments to share tips, swaps, and hype each other up. More vegan food, more fun, more connection. ✨
And yes… there's a prize. 😏

Yes, I made the yummy brownies and followed the recipe exactly. However, they seem a bit too greasy. Instead of using the vegan butter (Earth Balance) would it be possible to substitute applesauce like I do for most other recipes? I will try it next time and let you know. Thank you for your recipes and adaptations you suggest.

Great question, Marilyn! You can try swapping some of the butter for applesauce, but it will make them a bit less rich and fudgy 🙂

I made these last night and they turned out really well. I substituted monk fruit sugar for the sugar, because I’m pre-diabetic, and applesauce instead of the flax egg. The tops weren’t shiny, but they had a nice, rich, fudgy taste. They were a bit too sweet for me. I think next time, I’ll cut back on the sugar. They were so sweet, I think maybe they’d work better as brownie bites. Easy to make, though!

I am looking forward to cooking a different recipe each month. I made the brownies yesterday. They are very chocolatey and fudgey. My boys are enjoying them very much.

Could this be where to leave a comment. I'm not very tech intuitive...Anyhow, the brownies were a hit at a dinner party last night. I let the brownies cool for hours on the parchment which seemed to absorb a lot of the oil. I made one small change using 3/4 cup of sugar. Thay were chewy and fudgie but very flat.

Hi Agnes! Yes, this is the right spot 😊 So glad the brownies were a hit! Reducing the sugar can affect both the texture and structure a bit, which may be why they turned out flatter, but I’m happy they were still chewy and fudgy.

Ok, so its your "not so good in the cooking/baking" person. I made quite a few mistakes and these still turned out good! I also used Date sugar instead of regular sugar to try and make it a little bit healthier. But honestly it is a treat. I forgot the walnuts which I was looking forward to adding. Again, all in all it turn out great. Thank you
