Just 5 ingredients, and super easy to make, these Vegan Chocolate Peanut Bars are a delicious candy treat! The perfect combination of flavors: not-too-sweet, super chocolatey, fudgy, chewy, crunchy, and peanuty! These bars are a dupe for the classic Canadian chocolate bar "Eat-More".

With Mother's Day just around the corner, I wanted to make my mom a special treat. My mom's favorite chocolate bar is called an Eat-More bar. These bars are only sold in Canada so unless you live in Canada you might not have heard of them. They are chewy, chocolatey, and jammed full of peanuts! My mom said she always thought it was all the chocolate bars mashed into one perfect bar, haha!
Eat-More bars have dairy in them so I decided to veganize them and make the homemade (isn't homemade always better)? After a few recipe tests, I nailed the chocolate-peanut butter flavor and the caramel-chewy chocolate texture! I was so excited to give these to my mom that I ended up gifting them to her early and she told me that they tasted exactly like the store-bought chocolate bar... but so much better!!

These vegan chocolate peanut bars are so easy to make and they can be frozen too. They are gluten-free, and dairy-free so they are very allergy friendly. (If you cannot use peanuts, see the recipe notes for a few other options). These bars are great for gifting, bringing to parties, potlucks, or enjoying yourself! I love to have one with a glass of white wine after dinner. Talk about delicious!!!
Oh and if you're a chocolate lover, you are going to LOVE my third cookbook which will be coming out later this year! Stay tunnnnned! 😉
How to Make Vegan Chocolate Peanut Bars:
Line a 9" x 9" baking pan with parchment paper, or use a silicon baking pan.
Mix the corn syrup and peanut butter in a medium pot over medium heat.

Once the mixture begins to bubble, gently simmer for 5 minutes. Keep stirring often and adjust the heat as needed to ensure it doesn't burn. The mixture might get a bit foamy.

After 5 minutes, remove the pot from the heat. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract and stir well to melt the chocolate into the mixture.

Lastly, stir in the peanuts and mix well. Pour into the prepared pan and use a spatula to spread it evenly. Allow to cool in the fridge for about 3 hours or until it is chilled and set.

Cut into 16 bars (or whatever bar size you prefer). Store the vegan chocolate peanut butter bars in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or store them in the freezer.

These Vegan Chocolate Peanut Bars are...
- chewy, fudgy, chocolatey, and peanuty
- a dupe of a classic Canadian chocolate bar call "Eat-More"
- super quick and easy to make
- make for a great gift!

I first made this about a year ago and it is my husband’s favorite treat. As soon as the last bar is gone, I am asked to make another batch.

Hahaha I love that!! SO thrilled it's a fave!! 🙂
Martine says
Can you replace corn syrup with rice syrup or agave nectar?
Sam Turnbull @ It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken says
Hi Martine, If you prefer to substitute corn syrup, a good substitute is golden syrup. The bars need to set like candy so other sweeteners (such as agave, or maple syrups) might not work well.
Izzy says
I made these with maple syrup, almond butter, and roasted almonds, and they turned out absolutely amazing! I've never had the original bars, but even if mine weren't quite the same, they're still delicious and 100% worth making. I'll be making these again very soon!
Sam Turnbull @ It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken says
Oooh love it! So thrilled you love them Izzy!! Love the almond twist 🙂
Kathleen says
I’m not sure where I went wrong but these came out like bricks for me! They are so hard, I can’t even cut them 😭 any idea? The only modification I made was I halved the recipe but I wouldn’t think that would dramatically alter the texture!
Sam Turnbull @ It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken says
Hi Kathleen, Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear your bars turned out too hard! The most likely reason is that the corn syrup and peanut butter mixture cooked a little too long or got too hot. Since you halved the recipe, the mixture would heat up faster, so it might have reached a higher temperature than needed, making the bars set too firmly. Next time, try reducing the cook time slightly—maybe simmer for about 3 minutes instead of 5, or just until the mixture starts to thicken and bubble gently. Also, make sure to stir often and keep the heat on medium to prevent it from overcooking. I hope that helps! Let me know if you give it another shot. 😊
Freja says
can this be made with hazelnuts and hazelnut butter?
Sam Turnbull @ It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken says
Oh yes that would be lovely! I love hazelnut chocolate combo. Enjoy!!

Satisfied my chocolate and peanut butter craving, super easy to make.
Simone says
This is dangerously delicious! When I make it, I make sure there are people around to help me eat them, otherwise, I lose control.
Michelle says
NAILED IT!! Sam, I loved Eatmore bars before I became vegan and I've been missing them. I made these today and they are fantastic!! Thanks for another winning recipe!
Jess @ IDTLC Support says
Yay! We're glad you liked it!
Irene McDonald says
I do not know what the original candy bar tasted like but I made this today and was really surprised and pleased with how good it is. It really hit my sweet tooth with just one small square. This is a keeper for when the cravings hit!
Jess @ IDTLC Support says
We're so glad!
Ann M says
I am not familiar with the candy bar that these are modeled after, but the chew is quite pleasing. The "fudgy" part isn't coming through for me, though, as I barely taste any chocolate at all which really bummed me out. Maybe milk chocolate would be better than semi-sweet? Anyway, not bad; but not what I expected.
Kate says
This is an amazing recipe!!! So freaking good. Very easy to make. The texture is really good. I don’t know the original candy bar…but I’ll make this again and again! Thank you.
Jess @ IDTLC Support says
Amazing!
Gillian says
Hi Sam, I'm definitely trying these, but can you advise what the weight of the chocolate would be so I can use melted acchocolate bar rather than chips? thanks! Gillian
Sam Turnbull says
Hi Gillian, at the bottom of the ingredient list you will see "metric", just click that and it will switch to metric which will show you the weight. Hope that helps!
Gillian says
Ah, that's fantastic. Why didn't I think of that?
Carolyn Turnbull says
Mom here.... these chocolatey, chewy, peanuty bars are a smash hit. I only have a few left and it's not even Mothers Day.
Sam Turnbull says
Haha, yay!!! Glad you enjoyed mom 🙂
