Check out this amazing Vegan Steak Sandwich recipe!
You know what I love about vegan food? The possibilities are totally endless!! I'm a strong believer that anything can be made vegan and taste just as good, if not better than the original. Example A. This vegan steak sandwich.
This vegan steak sandwich is packed with steak slices, sautéed onions, red bell pepper, and garlic, all topped with melty nacho cheese. And did I mention it was vegan!? Yeah, it's a pretty mean sandwich that's completely cruelty-free. 😉
To make these vegan steak sandwiches you will need to have the steaks and nacho cheese already prepared.
You can follow the recipe to make my Vegan Seitan Steaks here. To make two vegan steak sandwiches you will only need 1 steak, so you will have three remaining steaks. The steaks freeze beautifully so you can save the rest for more sandwiches or for another dish.
For the vegan cheese, I used my melty stretchy gooey vegan nacho cheese recipe. The recipe makes about 1 ½ cups of cheese and I use about ½ cup in this vegan steak sandwich. You can enjoy the rest or the nacho cheese with tortilla chips, or use it in up another recipe. If you prefer you can use any vegan cheese you like.
When ready to prepare the sandwiches, in a large skillet or frying pan, melt the vegan butter over medium heat. When hot, add the onion, red bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 3 - 5 minutes until the vegetables soften. Push the veggies to the side of the pan and add the seitan steak slices and more butter if needed.
Fry the steak slices for about 5 minutes, stirring as needed until it's browned. Mix the steak and onions mixture together, turn off the heat, and mix in the leftover steak marinade.
Prepare the sandwiches by dividing the steak and onion mixture onto the two buns and dollop the nacho cheese on top. Serve hot.
Bon appetegan!
Sam.

This is not related to the recipe - which looks great. Please tell me your secret to amazing hair! Your hair is insanely gorgeous. Is it all your own? What products do you use???
Sam Turnbull says
Haha, thank you! Yes it's all my own. No real secret, I just use DevaCurl no poo and one condition. That's it! 🙂

I made the steak sandwiches last night because I happened to have the steaks (your recipe!) on hand. A relatively quick and easy dinner, simple to put together, and tasty! I served them open-faced using sourdough bread. My son had seconds, which says a lot because he can be fussy. That's for the inspiration!

Wonderful! So happy you enjoyed 🙂

Wondering if you might have a recipe (as in spice mix for you seitan steaks?) for a gyros? The sliced texture is perfect here but I cannot seem to find a good balance to create gyros..... Thank you for any guidance!
Sam Turnbull says
You could use the marinade in my veggie gyros recipe on your vegan steaks, that would be delish!
