Ok well, 5 Minute Vegan Creamsicles plus freezing time to be exact.
Is August 31st too late for a popsicle recipe? Probably, but I'm doing it anyways. I'm a rebel like that. The days are still sticky hot here in Toronto, so these fresh, orangey, creamy popsicles are the perfect treat for me.
I think creamsicles are one of the best summer sweets, but it suddenly occurred to me that I hadn't had one since I went vegan! Obviously, that had to change immediately, and by immediately I meant in 5 minutes flat.
I did a bit of googling and found there are many creamsicle recipes on the web. There are recipes from Gal on a Mission,  Katie Cucina, Tidy Mom, and Inspired Edibles. Cinco Shopper even required a fancy popsicle maker thingy to get the orange on the outside, ice cream on the inside type popsicle. Very cool, but a gadget I did not own or need. So to make my version, I just used what I had on hand and tasted my way to the perfect creamsicle.
Hot dang are these good!! Wait a second... hot dang? More like cold dang! ...Is "cold dang" a thing? Well, it should be because that's how I would describe these vegan creamsicles. Seriously creamy and bursting with orange zestiness.
You know what's pretty cool, these are really not even that bad for you either. Just orange juice, coconut milk, vanilla extract and a bit of agave. Very cool my friends. Literally. ~smirks at cheesy pun.~
To make 5 Minute Vegan Creamsicles: just toss all the ingredients into a blender and blend for a few seconds to combine. Alternatively, you could just whisk the ingredients together in a bowl, but I like the blender because it makes it easy to pour mixture straight into the popsicle molds.
Like so. I used a popsicle mold similar to this one, but any popsicle mold will do. Insert the popsicle sticks and freeze for about 4 hours or until ready to serve. I left mine overnight.
Run warm water over the mold to help release a popsicle when you are ready to enjoy your frosty treat.

I didn't have OJ, but I had an orange and a couple of cuties. I first pulverized them in my Vitamix then added the other ingredients. Popsicles came out great! Smooth, creamy, and delicious. I think they are slightly less sweet than they would've been if I had used pure juice, but that is fine because they're still awesome, and I like that I was able to keep the fiber from the whole orange (which is not at all detectable).

Both times I have made these in my vitamix they won’t come together. Both times they separated when frozen. Half icy half creamy. Any idea why?
Mandy says
Yum. These were so quick to whip up but I hated waiting 4 HOURS for them to freeze! Haha! Impatient and greedy!!!!
I think for my next batch I will add some pureed frozen mango to add tl the tropical-ness (!!) of the flavours.
Mmmm.
Thanks Sam!

These sound delicious! I want to make some using ice cube trays for bite sized summer treats. Thank you for another awesome recipe.

Hi!
I’m really excited to make these! My daughter is obsessed with popsicles and I really like them too....any season! Did you use canned coconut milk or the carton kind? Also have you tried fresh squeezed Orange juice? Love the idea of turning this into an ice cream..will be trying that as well. Thank you for all your amazing recipes
Sam Turnbull says
I used canned and fresh orange juice would be great 🙂
Lisa says
Hi Sam. What about adding some alcohol to these for the ultimate adult treat? Have you done that and if so, any recommendations for this recipe? Thinking rum would be good, but not sure of the ratio. Thanks in advance! I’ll try these regardless. They look fabulous and today is expected to be another super hot one. 🙂

Sounds wonderful! Should I use canned coconut milk, or refrigerated?
Sally Walter says
Great recipe, so easy and yummy!
Nicole says
Hello
Followed the recipe but my coconut milk and oh separated. Why do you think this happened
Thanks
Sam Turnbull says
Hmm... it's difficult to know without being in the kitchen with you. Perhaps mine froze a lot faster than yours, not letting them have the chance to separate...

Got some new Zoku mini popsicle molds. First I tried your fudgecicle recipe - really good. Then I tried your mint chocolate chip pops - even better. And last I tried the creamsicles - best of the bunch! So creamy and refreshing! Thanks for the great recipes. BTW, if anyone has the same mini molds as me, 1/3 of a recipe of each of these was about the right amount to fill all nine molds. And they freeze in about 4 hours. 🙂
Sam Turnbull says
Wonderful!! So happy you are enjoying all the popsicle recipes Eve-Marie 🙂
Anneka says
Delicious! And practically health food!
I don't have Popsicle molds, so I also used an ice cube tray.
Thanks
Sam Turnbull says
So happy you loved them, Anneka 🙂

Hi Sam, just found the recipe here for the creamsicles, loved those way back when. Just wondering, how would this work with unsweetened almond milk?
Sam Turnbull says
Hi Michael! Unsweetened almond milk would work, but coconut milk is a lot richer and creamier. So with almond milk they would be less creamy and more on the icy side of things. Enjoy!
Landon says
Sam, I'd love to try these but I'm allergic to coconut & soy. I have tried to make ice cream with almond milk and it was very icy, as you said above. Can you recommend another nondairy option that might work in place of the coconut milk? I'm still in the trying to figure these allergies out phase.
Srivani says
Well, that was easy!! These are freezing as I type; it took some willpower not to just drink it as a smoothie... yes, that delicious. Am I a bad mom to hope my 4 year old daughter doesn't like these? Unfortunate for me, I'm sure she will.
Sam Turnbull says
Hahahaha! I do have a creamsicle smoothie if you actually did want to drink it as a smoothie 😉
Rebecca says
I made these last year at the tail-end of summer and they were so good. I'm so excited for summer to begin this year so I can enjoy these treats again!
Sam Turnbull says
Yes!!! Looking forward to popsicle and ice cream season! So happy you enjoyed them 🙂
Rebecca says
So excited to try your fudgesicles. It's so much more affordable to just make our own frozen treats-- it's crazy how expensive coconut milk "ice cream" is-- plus it tastes better!
Sam Turnbull says
Homemade is almost always better 🙂
betty hatfield says
This looks really good!
Just voted, Sam. Good luck!
Sam Turnbull says
Thank you so much betty!! I hope you love the popsicles too 🙂
Bethery says
Hot dang they're cold! We're starting to get fall here, so this may have to wait for next summer. Although, next week summer could be back.
Sam Turnbull says
Hahaha!! It was boiling here yesterday, and I literally woke up today and it magically turned into sweater weather!! I'm still going to eat popsicles tho... haha
Bethery says
Yeah, I used to eat ice cream year round, but now I tend to eat more seasonally. I love traditional food at traditional times. Enjoy your popsicles. Don't turn into one!
Sam Turnbull says
Haha! I won't 🙂
Amy Morris says
Mmm, except I don't have popsicle molds. But I do have an ice cream maker. I wonder if this would work! YUM!
Sam Turnbull says
Creamsicle ice cream?? That sounds like it could be delicious! You could use an ice cub tray or even little paper cups if you don't have a mold!
Delia says
I don't want to get so old that I am too old for popsicles! I just bought some but haven't made any and was also planning on making something with coconut milk so your recipe comes at the best time!! Thanks, you rock!
Sam Turnbull says
You're never to old for popsicles!! Love that it's the perfect timing! I hope you like them Delia 🙂
Josee Wright says
It's NEVER too late for a popsicle recipe. I currently have some in my freezer... similar recipe but with frozen strawberries instead of oj and maple syrup instead of agave.... vegan popsicles are the BEST!!!! I will definitely have to try this recipe 'cause I used to love orangesicles.
Sam Turnbull says
I just got into popsicle making at the very end of summer and I am left wondering why I waited so long! They really are the BEST!
Eya says
I think I'll try this with an ice cube tray instead of a popsicle mould because I'm too old for popsicle moulds. And they probably freeze faster in ice cube trays. Which means....yes, you are correct....I probably wouldn't pass that Marshmallow test.
Sam Turnbull says
Can you ever be too old for popsicle molds?? haha. They will indeed probably freeze fast and be a nice little treat 🙂
