This recipe for Easy Vegan Oat Nog uses just 5 ingredients and takes only 5 minutes to make. Just add the ingredients to a jar or blender, then shake or blend. Pour over ice and add some spiced rum or bourbon if desired, or serve it plain. It's a delicious holiday cocktail but it's also great in coffee or in your morning oatmeal. Yum!
Traditional eggnog is made with egg yolks, heavy cream, and sugar. Today I'm sharing with you my healthy recipe for easy vegan oat nog. Not only is this recipe SO much healthier, but it tastes wonderful and surprisingly a lot like the traditional recipe.
To make this vegan eggnog, instead of heavy cream I use my favorite non-dairy milk: oat milk. You can make homemade oat milk if you like, or I like to use Earth's Own Barista Oat because it has a super creamy texture and gets really foamy when shaken or blended. Along with the oat milk you add ground cinnamon, and nutmeg, which are both lovely warm spices. And if you want that slightly eggy taste you can add a tiny pinch of black salt (also called kala namak), which has an eggy taste!
Serve this oat milk eggnog recipe over ice with or without alcohol for a treat during the holiday season. If you want to try an even creamier vegan eggnog recipe, try my Quick Vegan Coconut Nog recipe which is similar but uses high-fat coconut milk.
How to make easy vegan oat nog:
Add the oat milk (gluten-free if preferred), maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and black salt (if using), to a jar or a blender. Shake or blend until combined and foamy. Pour over ice adding a shot of spiced rum or bourbon per serving if desired. Garnish with extra nutmeg, a cinnamon stick, or star anise if desired.
Store leftovers in the fridge in an air-tight container for up to 4 days. Shake or mix again before serving as the spices will have settled.
This easy vegan oat nog recipe is...
- quick and easy to make
- tastes like traditional nog but better
- so much healthier than store-bought nog!
- great served plain or with a shot of spiced rum or bourbon
